Bio

A native of Albania and resident of New York, Anila Jaho’s photographs focus on visual metaphors of cultural identity. Her work has won press and praise by exploring issues of gender and cultural identity through penetrating and exploring the human subconscious behavior versus the experienced reality.

A classic example of making the jump from painting to photography and reinventing oneself, the artist acknowledges the immediacy of recombining the craft and concept in an era where technology is replacing the art technique. Her artwork has been exhibited nationally and internationally since 1993.

Although a full time photographer, Anila Jaho holds a Masters Degree in International Peace and Conflict Resolution from American University, in Washington DC and a Law Degree from Tirana University in Albania.
